SMRR CONVENTION INFO (***Candidate and Interviews information is below***)
Saturday, June 22nd SMRR will hold its 2024 Convention at John Adams Middle School (JAMS) cafeteria starting at 1:00 PM. Sign in starts at 12:30 PM. JAMS is located at 2425 16th Street. Enter the meeting from the school gate at 17th and Pine Street.
This meeting provides the opportunity for SMRR members to determine which candidates for local office and which local ballot measures will receive the support of the organization in the November election campaign.
You must be present to vote, and your 2024 dues must be paid. Dues are $35 per calendar year; $15 for hardship. SMRR members who joined prior to March 24, 2024 are eligible to vote.
Members from 2023 who still owe 2024 dues may renew by credit card online at www.smrr.org/donate by June 18, or by mailing a check in time to be received by June 15, to SMRR, 2118 Wilshire Blvd., #832, Santa Monica, CA 90403 to vote at this meeting. It will facilitate the check-in procedure. If you have paid your 2024 dues, please consider making a generous contribution to help elect candidates who are committed to protecting our homes and community.
SMRR INTERVIEWS INFO
SMRR will hold interviews for candidates seeking our endorsement. These interviews are open to SMRR members. City Council and Rent Control Board candidate interviews will take place May 4th at 10:00AM. SMMUSD Board and SMC Trustees candidate interviews will be May 19th at 10:00AM. The interviews will be held online via Zoom.
After you sign up we will verify your membership status and let you know if you owe membership dues for 2024. A Zoom link will be sent to you via email on the evening of Friday May 3rd and not before then. You will be able to enter the Zoom waiting room at 9:30AM when we will begin letting people in so we can get everyone in before 10:00AM.
CANDIDATE INFORMATION: Candidates who wish to seek SMRR’s endorsement should notify SMRR as soon as possible and in no case later than April 24. Send your request via email to [email protected] or mail it to: SMRR, 2118 Wilshire Blvd., # 832, Santa Monica, CA 90403. You will be asked to answer a multi-page questionnaire; more details will be provided to you via email. If you have any questions regarding candidate endorsements, please send us an email to [email protected]. On the day of your interview, please enter the waiting room 1-2 minutes prior to your interview time (which will be sent to you).
