Renters' Rights

Yes on Measure RR

  • Protects our neighborhoods
  • Provides Basic Eviction Protections for All Tenants
  • Evictions Only for Good Cause to be extended to non-Rent Controlled renters:
  • Good Cause: Nonpayment of rent, criminal activity, breach of lease, nuisance, unlawful subletting, refusing owner legal entry, owner/relative occupancy.
  • Seniors, seriously disabled, and terminally ill tenants will be protected from owner/relative occupancy evictions, unless the owner/relative is a senior, seriously disabled, or terminnally ill.
  • Warning Notice Must Be Given before actual eviction processes can be initiated
  • Applies to Breaches of Leases, Nuisances, Refusing Entry, but not to nonpayment or criminal activity
  • Reasonable Time must be given to seek help and fix the problem

Note: None of the above applies to single-family homes or condos.

 

Yes on Measure Y

 
  • Protects and funds essential services such as police, fire, emergency preparedness, streets and sidewalks, libraries, and programs for Seniors, Pre-Schoolers, and the Disabled
  • Can NOT be taken away by Sacramento
 

Yes on Measure YY

 
  • Advises the City Council to deem education an essential service
  • Directs the Council to use half of the Measure Y revenue to support school and education programs
